Vice President of People

Reporting to the Co-Founder and President, the VP of People (VPP) will shape our organization’s success through expertise as a team builder, culture cultivator, and talent developer. In this pivotal role, the VPP will create and lead processes that allow us to efficiently double our staff, while maintaining key tenants of our culture. The VPP will lead initiatives to nurture a positive and inclusive work environment, ensure individuals are developed to unleash potential, champion our vibrant company culture, and develop the organization’s capabilities to grow and prosper. The VPP is responsible for building an exceptional talent function within the organization. This position will be an integral member of the Senior Executive Team and contribute to company strategic planning and decision making.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Act as a trusted advisor providing guidance and support to leaders and employees.
  • Develop and implement HR solutions aligned with company’s goals and objectives.
  • Ensure HR practices promote a positive and productive work culture.
  • Develop and maintain Employee Handbook with relevant Employment Law compliance.
  • Partner in the creation of culture strategies that align to revenue goals.
  • Identify resources needed to manage day-to-day HR activities.
  • Ensure HR policies are compliant and align with company values.
  • Lead and develop HR team to steward brand values and culture practices.
  • Design and implement talent development programs to enhance capabilities.
  • Provide coaching and support to leaders and employees.
  • Identify training needs, create development plans, and monitor progress.
  • Utilize Culture Index assessment to optimize team and talent.
  • Cultivate and promote a positive and inclusive culture.
  • Develop initiatives that align with values and contribute to an engaged workforce.
  • Organize team events and recognition programs to strengthen engagement.
  • Create and optimize remote /in person policies to maximize hybrid environment.
  • Conduct engagement surveys and facilitate action planning to address opportunities.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to evaluate staffing needs in line with company goals.
  • Lead talent acquisition process, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding.
  • Develop recruiting strategies to attract and retain top talent.
  • Implement performance review process aligning with organization talent goals.
  • Provide guidance to managers on performance feedback and development plans.
  • Implement PIPS with leaders as needed, monitor outcomes and follow up.
  • Establish strategies for recognition and celebrating exceptional performance.
  • Oversee separation process and conduct exit interviews.
  • Partner with VP Finance and Co-Founders to create competitive compensation.
  • Manage benefit programs, including enrollment, communication, and vendor management, to provide competitive and cost-effective benefits to employees.
  • Manage LOA, PTO benefits supporting leaders and employees.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors’ degree in HR, Business or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in HR leadership positions.
  • Proven track record building and managing an HR function to scale a business.
  • HR certification preferred.
  • Industry experience in product, consumer goods, multi-channel organization preferred.
  • Experience managing external vendors and consultants.
  • Familiarity with compensation and benefits practices.
  • Knowledge of HR practices, federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Texas employment law knowledge required; multi-state knowledge preferred.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite and MS Office.
  • Experience with HRIS or HCM system preferred (Rippling is a plus).
  • Trello or other project management software experience preferred.
