Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Finance is responsible for providing critical leadership in financial stewardship and strategy for the profitable growth of the company’s multi-channel business. As a leadership team member of a small but growing company, this person will comfortably navigate between their strategic role in the overall management of the organization while providing hands-on leadership to both the internal team and external partners.
This individual will facilitate the financial and annual planning process and influence the leadership team in the appropriate allocation of resources and investments to drive long-term value creation. This role also drives change management efforts through process, systems, and reporting improvements to provide increased visibility into financial results, to enable enhancements to productivity and to inform key decisions on our operations and business model.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Organizational Leadership
- Partner with the CEO, Founders, investors, and senior leadership team to set long and short term financial plans and goals.
- Engage on issues, trends, data and changes in the Lotus Foods business and competitive environment to provide strategic and operational guidance.
- Continuously assess and communicate organizational performance against budget and strategic financial objectives to meet short and long-term growth goals.
- Lead the modeling and analysis of future business scenarios and strategic choices.
- Actively lead the continued evolution of the brand, channel mix shift and product innovation strategies and execution.
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Oversee the creation of reporting packages, in support of providing business partners with timely and insightful summaries of financial results. Highlight results to leadership team and provide recommended action steps.
- Lead collaboration on sales-driving and cost efficiency initiatives, providing the financial framework to support decisions and to analyze results.
- Responsible for leading and driving the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes.
- Act as a thought-partner for department leaders to inform financial decisions with intuition and awareness of competitive and creative influences that drive the company.
- Provide projections, analysis, and guidance for consideration when analyzing business initiatives and opportunities, making course corrections or other important decisions that have significant financial implications.
- Analyze supply chain, product supply, and distribution opportunities to provide updated modeling scenarios.
Accounting, Reporting, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting. Oversee the preparation and communication of monthly and annual financial statements.
- Manage working capital by driving improvements in the areas of credit and collections, and vendor and customer terms. Work with supply chain to improve inventory management.
- Advise and guide insight towards rolling forecasts, treasury processes, budget adherence, internal controls, GAAP standards, inventory management controls, tax strategy, risk management practices and compliant reporting to local, state, and federal authorities.
- Accountable for total company level compliance and governance and continuous improvement.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, retain and develop a team that delivers excellence while fostering a collaborative, authentic and inclusive team environment aligned with company culture.
- Demonstrate cross-functional collaboration and a spirit of service to business partners at all levels within the organization.
- Build, maintain and role-model collaborative relationships with external partners such as Finance, Accounting, Tax and Legal partners.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of leadership experience in a finance & accounting role with progressive growth-oriented companies. Undergraduate degree in Finance or related business field, MBA strongly preferred, CPA a plus.
- CPG industry experience required. Food/Bev experience strongly preferred.
- Exceptional results orientation, with a high degree of personal initiative and leadership, in a lower-resource environment.
- Outstanding analytical skills and a proven ability to connect data analysis with business issues and decisions. Advanced Excel and modeling skills.
- Well balanced in detail oriented hands on work and high level thought partnership

LOCATION
- The company is Headquartered in Richmond, CA and is a hybrid work environment. This individual needs to be close enough for a 2-3 day commute to Richmond.
COMPENSATION
- Base compensation starts at $200k, with additional bonus and equity opportunities.
