The Director, Sales for Asia Pacific (APAC) will support and execute the Company’s commercial plans for a key brand partnership business across Greater China and other Asia Pacific countries, with a strong focus on distributor management and day‑to‑day integration in the region. Reporting to the Vice President, Sales – Asia Pacific (APAC), this role is accountable for delivering sales results with assigned distributors, driving disciplined execution in market, and maintaining strong operational relationships with key brand partnerships regional teams.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Execute regional sales plans and seasonal initiatives for assigned markets and distributors in line with the Company’s objectives.
- Manage day‑to‑day distributor relationships, including sell‑in, forecasting inputs, order book management, and basic KPI tracking (ship‑in, sell‑through, inventory health, margin).
- Support the Vice President in implementing a rolling multi‑year commercial plan by providing market feedback, distributor performance insights, and local execution recommendations.
- Partner with distributors to ensure strong retail execution that reflects the Company’s standards (merchandising basics, assortment adherence, pricing and promotion guardrails), escalating major issues to the Vice President as needed.
- Coordinate with internal cross‑functional partners (sales operations/customer service, planning, product, finance, legal, operations) to ensure timely tools, line lists, pricing, and GTM materials are delivered to distributors.
- Align with key account and category teams on seasonal priorities, key stories, and GTM calendars, ensuring the Company’s actions and distributor plans are coordinated with brand partnership channels (e.g., DTC, NSP, NSO, Digital) under the guidance of the Vice President.
- Represent the Company in selected key account and distributor touchpoints (e.g., seasonal line reviews, GTM meetings, key business reviews), preparing standard reports and summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct regular market and store visits in priority cities to review execution, gather competitive and consumer insights, and provide structured feedback and follow‑up action plans.
- Support the preparation of seasonal forecasts and annual budget inputs by consolidating distributor projections, reviewing reasonableness, and flagging risks/opportunities to the Vice President.
- Track and report basic market trends, competitor activity, and distributor performance, recommending tactical adjustments in partnership with the Vice President.
- Contribute to key account integration initiatives (e.g., new process rollouts, tools, or reporting requirements) by coordinating training and adoption with distributors.
- Provide coaching and guidance to distributor commercial teams on Company processes and ways of working, tools, and expectations; reinforce brand and company standards in everyday execution.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 7–10 years of progressive sales or commercial experience in sporting goods, consumer, or related industries, with exposure to distributor or wholesale account management in China and/or broader APAC.
- Solid understanding of the Greater China/APAC commercial landscape (retail formats, distribution models, and basic cultural/market differences), with willingness to learn deeper market nuances over time.
- Demonstrated track record of managing key accounts or distributors, delivering sales targets, and working within agreed commercial frameworks and brand guidelines.
- Strong communication and relationship building skills; ability to work effectively with distributor partners and internal cross functional teams.
- Proficiency in English (written and verbal); Mandarin Chinese strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
- Experience working in a matrixed or regional environment a plus but not required.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands on, execution focused approach.
- Cross cultural collaboration skills and comfort working across time zones.
- Strong presentation and meeting management skills for internal and distributor facing reviews.
LOCATION
- Position is based out of Shanghai
- Regional travel up to 25%; International travel up to 10%
